Oconee Today -- April 11

Malcom Bridge Elementary receives a visit from the state superintendent of schools today. Find out why and see what else in happening in Oconee.

1. Monday starts out with plenty of sunshine, the National Weather Service predicts.  Highs will be in the mid 80s.

2. gets a visit from State Superintendent of Schools John Barge this morning.  During an assembly, scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.,  Barge will for being named a 2010 Georgia School of Excellence in “Top 10% in Student Achievement.”

3. Tax Day is quickly approaching (though it's April 18, not April 15 this year). Members of the AARP will be at the Oconee County Library from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. to offer to those in need of help with preparation of tax forms.

4. The Oconee County School Board meets in a work session at 5 p.m. at in the Central Office Meeting Room of the school .  Superintendent John Jackson said in his weekly column that the school board is the approval of contracts for full-time employees.

5. The Town of Bishop council meets on the second Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at city hall.
