1. GEORGIA HIGH SCHOOL ASSOCIATION STATE BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT

Where/When: Gwinnett Arena at 4 p.m. on Thursday and 3 p.m. on Friday. Check the schedule for additional daily game times.

Why Go: To see the GHSA Class AAAA Basketball Semifinals and Finals games.

Why Go: To see demonstrations of tree planting, pruning and mulching while listening to live acoustic and bluegrass music.

4. THE C.U.R.E.TROT 5K

Where/When: at 8 a.m. on Saturday.

Why Go: To benefit the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life and your health. 

Pricing: $25 until race day 

5. REBECCA LANG’S "QUICK-FIX SOUTHERN" BOOK LAUNCH PARTY

Where/When: Dog Ear Books in Athens on Friday at 6 p.m. 

Why Go: To be one of the first to purchase a copy of "Quick-Fix Southern", meet the author, and eat, drink and be merry.
