2014 Small Business Summit provides excellent learning opportunities for nonprofits

ATHENS, Ga. – The Classic Center will host the Athens Small Business Summit on Thursday, April 24. Now in its second year, the Summit has expanded to offer breakout sessions developed specifically for nonprofit organizations. Nonprofit leaders seeking to learn, connect and be inspired are invited to attend this extraordinary event.

Organized by Athens-based business consulting firm StartStrategic and presented by Charter Business, the Summit is a must-attend event for businesses and organizations of all sizes and ages. Community Connection of Northeast Georgia, which specializes in nonprofit development and support, has worked alongside summit organizers to produce an exciting and educational nonprofit curriculum.

To help welcome nonprofit organizations, summit organizers will enter all nonprofit registrants into a raffle for a free, professional website design, sponsored by HW Creative Marketing. Nonprofit organizations will receive one raffle entry for every registration.

This all-day event provides attendees a variety of educational breakout sessions and experienced speakers. Attendees will make relevant connections during the summit’s multiple networking events and discover valuable utilities at the Small Business Resource Fair.

Derreck Kayongo, Co-Founder of the Global Soap Project, a multi-million dollar nonprofit venture, will deliver the Summit’s keynote address, “From Homeless Refugee to Social Entrepreneur.” Working to provide fresh soap to impoverished communities worldwide, Kayongo’s philanthropic efforts have led to widespread acclaim. In 2011, Kayongo was recognized as a “CNN Hero” for his outstanding contributions to society. This session will inspire attendees to overcome all obstacles in order to thrive and promote positive social change.

Registration for the Summit is now open and currently only $79 for tax-exempt nonprofit organizations. Visit SmallBizAthens.com to register online, learn how to become an exhibitor or for more information.
