- Today is the first day of qualifying for municipal government positions for the upcoming November 8 general election.
- Road paving work will begin on Cole Springs and Hillsboro Road today, and continues through Thursday. Expect some traffic restrictions and use caution when traveling these areas.
- Crews will resurface Harris Shoals Park Road today. The project is expected to be completed by Friday.
- The Athens-Clarke Heritage Foundation will present Historic Preservation: Inherently Green, a lecture exploring the environmental benefits of historic preservation and how it relates to land use, urban planning and green building at 6 p.m. at the Melting Point, 295 E. Dougherty Street in Athens.
