Oconee Today -- April 17

Beautiful weather is in the forecast for Palm Sunday.

1.  Mainly sunny skies are in Sunday's forecast, with high temperatures in the low to mid 70s.  Enjoy the sunshine at , or other great outdoor locations around Oconee County.Tonight lows will drop into the low 40s.

2.  Palm Sunday --a day that commemorates the arrival of Jesus into Jerusalem days before his Passion-- marks the beginning of Holy Week, which concludes on Easter Sunday. Read more about the history of Palm Sunday. 

2. at Memorial Park in Athens is open every Sunday.  You can visit the exhibit hall and see a bunch of amphibians and reptiles for free from 1 to 4 p.m.

3. Today is the last baseball game in a 3-game series between the Georgia Bulldogs and the Florida Gators.  The Gators beat the Dawgs Friday night, 5-4 and Georgia pulled a 7-2 win on Saturday.  Today's game takes place at Foley Field beginning at 2 p.m.  Tickets cost $5, $8 for a reserved seat, and are free for UGA students.

4. The Oconee County Parks and Recreation Department is seeking a full-time program coordinator. Applications must be submitted by April 18.  Turn in applications from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday at the Oconee County Board of Commissioners' Human Resources Office at 23 North Main Street (Oconee County Courthouse), Room 203.  Applications may be downloaded on-line.
