Oconee County's Unemployment Slips Under Six Percent

From October to November., the unemployment rate in Oconee County dropped by five-tenths of a percentage point. The county continues to post the lowest unemployment in Georgia.

Unemployment rates dipped across the state last month, and in Oconee County, the rate fell by five-tenths of a percentage point from October to November to 5.9 percent. The rate remains the lowest in the state of Georgia.

Out of the county's labor force of 19,127, 1,130 were jobless in November.

Northeast Georgia’s unemployment rate decreased from a revised 9.5 percent in October to 8.9 percent in November.

The seasonally adjusted rate for the state of Georgia was 9.9 percent for November.

Clarke-  7.1 percent

Greene- 9.6 percent

Morgan- 8.6 percent

Local area unemployment rates are not seasonally adjusted.

The seasonally adjusted rate for the state of Georgia was 9.9 percent for November.

The Georgia county with the highest unemployment rate in November was Hancock at 18.3 percent.

, the lowest in over 2.5 years, according to Bureau of Labor Statistics Commissioner Keith Hall.  There are currently 13.3 million unemployed persons in the nation, down from nearly 13.9 million in October.
