Oconee After Prom Wins $2,000 From Act Out Loud Contest

Oconee County High School's team was one of five runners-up in the 2012 Act Out Loud contest to raise awareness about teen driving safety laws.

For their efforts to spread the word about the dangers of distracted driving, a group of Oconee students has scored $2,000 from the National Organizations for Youth Safety's 2012 Act Out Loud contest to help fund After Prom.

's team was named one of five runners-up after the final points were tallied this week.  The $10,000 grand prize went to Lake City High School in Coeur D'Alene, Idaho.

Oconee County High School's T-shirt design about the dangers of texting while driving was selected as one of the top 25 out of over 300 entries in the . With their creative clown car signage, OCHS tied Stuarts Draft High School for the win in the second round. Schools were then required to download the Act Out Loud Facebook Yearbook application on their personal Facebook page and encourage their friends to do the same, and the school with the largest number of applications won round three.
