Monument to be Dedicated to Fallen Bogart Policeman

The ceremony in remembrance of Patrolman Herbert Daniel Johnson will take place on Sunday at 3 p.m. at Bogart First Baptist Church.

The Bogart community will come together on Sunday, Dec. 9 to honor the memory of Patrolman Herbert Daniel Johnson with the dedication of a monument marking the 35th anniversary of his death.

While directing traffic around an abandoned car on December 7, 1977, Johnson was struck and killed by a vehicle, according to The Oconee Enterprise.

Janet Luke, a member of the monument committee, said the Blue Knights Georgia 7 moving memorial wall and the Honor Guard from the Athens Clarke County Police Department will participate.

All are invited to attend the ceremony, which will be held at the Bogart First Baptist Church at 3 p.m.

Join family, friends and fellow officers by leaving reflections on Johnson's Officer Down Memorial Page.
