Children will have the opportunity to explore gardening by tilling soil, learning about climate change and more.

Mini grants for the 2012-2013 school year, funded by the Oconee Chamber of Commerce Education Foundation, were awarded during an After Hours event at Gainesville State College on May 17.

Thirteen teachers, some working as two-person teams, were awarded $500 to fund ten unique projects. The winners were selected from a pool of 45 applicants and were scored independently by GSC Vice President of the Oconee Campus Margaret Venable and two others from the college.  Names of teachers and schools were not indicated on the applications, Venable said.
