Judge Haggard of Oconee County Injured in Barrow County Traffic Accident

The Western Judicial Circuit Superior Court judge on Tuesday was taken to Athens Regional Medical Center for treatment of superficial injuries, the Athens Banner-Herald reports.

An accident in Barrow County Tuesday sent a Western Judicial Circuit Superior Court judge to an area hospital, the Athens Banner-Herald reports.

As Judge H. Patrick Haggard was headed toward Atlanta shortly after 10 a.m., his car was hit from behind at a red light on Ga. Highway 316 at Patrick Mill Road, which caused the judge's car to strike the vehicle in front of his, Barrow County Sheriff Jud Smith told the newspaper. Smith described Haggard's injuries as minor.

According to the article, Haggard was speaking to Oconee County Sheriff Scott Berry at the time the accident occurred.

Haggard is one of three Superior Court judges in the Western Circuit of the Tenth Judicial Administrative District, which consists of Athens-Clarke and Oconee Counties.
