Holl Announces Bid for Oconee Sheriff

Madison County investigator and former Oconee County Sheriff's deputy Pat Holl plans to run for Oconee's chief law enforcement position in 2012, The Oconee Enterprise reports.

A Madison County Sheriff's Office investigator and former deputy with the told The Oconee Enterprise last week that he plans to run for sheriff of Oconee County in 2012.

With 18 years experience in law enforcement, Pat Holl of Watkinsville told the newspaper his top priority as sheriff would be to protect children.

"It seems like most of the officers I am seeing I have never seen before," Holl told The Oconee Enterprise. "I would like to return to a time when the people of Oconee County are protected by the people of Oconee County."

Holl will likely run against sitting a Republican who has been in office since 1992 and serves as the 2011-2012 President of the Georgia Sheriffs' Association. Holl also plans to run on the Republican ticket, he told the newspaper. Berry has yet to publicly announce his candidacy.
