Groundbreaking Planned for Epps Bridge Centre

The shopping mall, which will include a 16-screen movie theater, is being built along the Oconee Connector Extension.

The , and crews have been clearing trees for weeks at the site of the future Epps Bridge Centre. Now, according to an article in the Athens Banner-Herald, Bishop Company is preparing to officially break ground on the project Tuesday.

The is happening on a 68-acre tract located along the new stretch of roadway. An estimated 22 commercial buildings are planned, along with a 16-screen theater that will feature state-of-the-art projection and stadium-style seating to accommodate almost 3,000 people.

Developer Frank Bishop said construction is slated for completion in summer of 2013.
