Early Voting Continues Saturday

Over 1,600 Oconee County, Ga. voters have already cast ballots ahead of the July 31 primary election.

The is rapidly approaching, and early voting indicates  there's a lot of interest in the election.

As of midday on Friday, day 10 of early voting, 1,666 voters had already cast ballots, according to deputy registrar Carol Amos.  She said a steady stream of voters has come to the Oconee County Board of Elections Office at 10 Court Street since early voting began on July 9. Additionally, 220 people have requested absentee ballots, she said.

Advance voting continues on Saturday, when the office will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Then it will resume next week starting on Monday, July 23 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and wrap up on Friday, July 27.

There are 23, 514 registered and eligible voters in Oconee County, including 1,896 inactive voters, Amos said.

While ealy voting only takes place in the Board of Elections Office, on July 31, voters will need to report to their assigned precincts and polls will be open from 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.  Voters can visit the State of Georgia My Voter Page to check their precint location and to review sample ballots.

Amos said it's important for voters to review the and ask questions ahead of time to avoid any confusion.
