Dog Requires Extensive Surgery After Being Shot in Three Legs

A resident of Hailey Drive in Bogart, Ga. says her pet Labrador Retriever came home Sunday evening with the injuries.

The Oconee County Sheriff's Office is investigating a case of animal cruelty after a pet Labrador Retriever was shot multiple times Sunday.

The owner told a deputy her dog requires extensive surgery to recover from the gunshot wounds to both front legs and the back right leg.  The dog had left the yard in the 1000 block of Hailey Drive around 6:15 p.m. and returned 15 minutes later with the injuries, according to an incident report.

The dog's owner said the pet is not aggressive and wanders around the neighborhood regularly.  The family did not hear any gunshots.
