Dan Matthews is a 47-year-old single father who lives in Watkinsville and has written about Oconee County government and lifestyle for various newspapers for a quarter century. He graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in broadcast journalism in 1986. He loves coaching basketball and soccer. Matthews is passionate about politics and was raised in Des Moines by a mother who helped bring the Iowa Caucuses to the forefront of the Presidential parade. He is chair of the Oconee County Democratic Committee for the second time.
