Weather again tops our list of five things to know about in and around Oconee County today. 1. There is a slight chance that another bout of winter weather may pass through Oconee today.  The National Weather Service predicts a rain and sleet mixture starting mid-morning and lasting until about 1 p.m.  This may create slick road conditions, so plan ahead.   2. Remember to slow down along the Highway 441 corridor. The Oconee County Sheriff's Office has deputies concentrating on the stretch near Spartan Lane again this week.  Just a reminder: The speed limit there is 45mph.  3.  Wednesdays at Oconee County Senior Center are always busy with scheduled activities.  There is a bridge game, mahjong, and a singalong.   4. Today is MLK National Day of Service. In honor of the spirit in American volunteerism, today's daily is about giving back in your community. Here are five way to do so in Oconee: 1.  The Oconee Democrats are meeting at 1 p.m. today at the Barber Creek Fire Station to pick up litter along the Oconee Connector/Mars Hill Road area. Bring gloves.  Join them for a bite before at 11:30 a.m. at the Krimson Kafe, 40 Greensboro Hwy  in downtown  Watkinsville.  2.   Hands on Northeast Georgia is organizing three dozen community service projects for volunteers in the Athens area. 1.  Give the Gift of Life!  The NE GA Chapter of the American Red Cross is continuing their special blood donor drive today due to an severe blood shortage in Georgia. Stop by the blood donor center at 3525 Atlanta Hwy in Athens. Donors must weigh at least 110 pounds, be at least 17 years old, healthy, and not taking antibiotics.
