Teen Treated for Alcohol Consumption

First responders and Oconee County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to a home on Whippoorwill Road early Saturday morning.

A 17-year-old girl was reportedly taken to St. Mary's Hospital early Saturday for treatment related to alcohol consumption. When Oconee County Sheriff's deputies arrived at a home on Whippoorwill Road around 1:45 a.m., medical first responders were already on the scene assisting the girl who was unconscious and vomiting, according to an incident report. Witnesses said the girl "arrived at the home already under the influence, produced a bottle of alcohol and continued to dink until [she] fell unconscious at which time EMS was contacted," a deputy wrote. The girl's mother was contacted and she requested her daughter be transported to St. Mary's Hospital where the teen was treated and released the same day, the report noted. Two other …

Deputies Break up Party on New Year's Eve at Vacant Oconee Co. Home

Juveniles were warned about criminal trespass and underage drinking and released to their parents.

Some juveniles in Oconee County rang in the New Year in hot water after authorities say they found them trespassing at a vacant house in a remote area of Tarpley Lane.  According to an incident report, neighbors reported the activity shortly before 11 p.m. on Dec. 31. As Sheriff's Office deputies arrived, they say they witnessed numerous vehicles leaving the area and juveniles running away through the woods. Several of the juveniles were detained, one of which appeared intoxicated, according to the report. The number of juveniles involved wasn't listed in the report and neither were their ages. Oconee Teen Treated for Alcohol Consumption, Charges may be Pending

A mother reports her 15-year-old daughter became sick on Aug. 7 after spending time with a friend at a trailer in Pinewood Estates South mobile home park.

The Oconee County Sheriff's Office is investigating the circumstances that led up to a 15-year-old girl's treatment for alcohol ingestion this week at Athens Regional Medical Center. The girl's mother told deputies she picked up her daughter Tuesday around 5 p.m. from a friend's trailer located in Pinewood Estates South mobile home park on Epps Bridge Road, according to an incident report. The girl and her mother also live in the park. The mother said her daughter seemed fine, but on the way to purchase school supplies, the girl "began vomiting, convulsed, and then passed out."  The mother said it was at that time that she smelled alcohol and rushed her daughter to Athens Regional Medical Center for treatment. Deputies Bust Another Underage Drinking Party

Nine citations were issued for underage alcohol consumption at a Franklin Grove Parkway residence early Sunday morning.

  Two weeks after Oconee County Sheriff's deputies issued nine citations for underage alcohol consumption at a party on Dogwood Hill Easter morning, they issued another nine at a Franklin Grove Parkway residence. Deputies were called to the scene of a large party in the 2100 block around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 22 after neighbors reported a disturbance.  According to the deputy's incident report, the party "was obviously in violation of the noise ordinance." Deputies say they spoke with the homeowner's son, who was throwing the party, and found evidence of underage consumption of alcohol. The homeowner was called and met with deputies at the home.  He told the deputies he had been unaware the party was taking place and helped shut it …
