Chicken Mull Stolen from Oconee Woman's Freezer

Someone took the stew from a garage on Old Bishop Road.

A hungry thief sneaked into a garage area on Old Bishop Road last week and removed two small food containers from a freezer, a resident of the home told an Oconee County Sheriff's deputy. The burglary happened sometime between 8:15 a.m. and 5:48 p.m. on Feb. 25, according to an incident report. The woman said about $14 worth of chicken mull was missing. The deputy noted that the garage/carport is attached to the residence but there are no doors; therefore, it cannot be secured.

Second Man Charged with Robbery in Starbucks' Tip Jar Theft

The 17 year old was booked into the jail on Thursday. An arrest doesn't mean a conviction.

A second man suspected of being involved in the snatching of a tip jar from Starbucks on Epps Bridge Parkway earlier this month was booked into the Oconee County Jail on Thursday. Richard Charles Jones, 17, of Jennings Mill Parkway in Athens, is charged with robbery, according to records. Last week George Labron Houser, 20, of Club Drive in Athens, was booked on the same charge. On Feb. 11, a manager of the coffee shop reported two men in a red Jeep Liberty snatched the tip jar from the drive-thru window. Authorities estimate $20-$50 was taken. Thieves Snatch Tip Jar From Oconee Starbucks

The money was taken from an outside ledge near the drive-thru window.

Leaving a tip isn't mandatory, but stealing one is downright criminal. According to an Oconee County Sheriff's report, that's what happened Monday at the Starbucks on Epps Bridge Parkway. The coffee shop manager reported that two men in a red Jeep Liberty swiped the tip jar from the drive-thru window ledge shortly after 11:30 a.m. The thieves made off with an undetermined amount of cash.

Autozone Employee Accused of Stealing from the Store

The 23-year-old Watkinsville man has been charged with a misdemeanor after a three-month internal investigation. An arrest does not mean a conviction.

An employee of Autozone was arrested on Thursday following an investigation by store loss prevention personnel that took place over a three-month period, according to an Oconee County Sheriff's Office report. Jonathan Rivera, 23, of Watkinsville, is accused of stealing property and currency from the store located on Hog Mountain Road with an estimated value of $203.84, according to the report.  The deputy says Rivera reportedly admitted to the theft. Jail records show bond was set at $500 and Rivera was released later that day. The missing property, which wasn't itemized in the report, was not recovered.

Man Dressed in Camo Accused of Stealing Truck Battery for Broken Down Van

An Oconee County deputy on patrol says he saw the man running near the woods in the area of Daniels Bridge Road and Lake Welbrook on Friday afternoon. An arrest doesn't mean a conviction.

A Watkinsville man on Friday afternoon reportedly told an Oconee County Sheriff's deputy that he took a battery from a truck parked inside of a shed at a property on Daniels Bridge Road after his van had broken down. A deputy on patrol in the area around 4:45 p.m. spotted the 1992 gold Mazda MVP parked on the side of the road near Lake Welbrook, according to an incident report. As he exited the vehicle, the deputy says he saw a man wearing a long-sleeved camouflage shirt and black sweat pants running alongside the woods beside a home. The deputy called out to the man and asked him what he was doing.  According to the deputy, the man replied that his van had broken down. Man Accused of Breaking Into Bogart Home Will Also Face Theft Charge in Oconee County

Authorities say they have evidence that a 19-year-old Bogart man snatched a boy's dirt bike from outside of a Malcom Bridge Road home earlier this month.

A 19-year-old resident of Stonehenge Place that was wanted in connection with the burglary of an occupied home on Luke Road in Bogart last Wednesday is behind bars in Athens-Clarke County. Demarcus Veron Ellison was booked into the jail early Monday, according to jail records. The Athens Banner-Herald reports Ellison has been in trouble with the law before and was on probation at the time he's accused of kicking in the door of a disabled veteran. Bond has been set at $5,000 for the burglary charge but the Oconee County Sheriff's Office has placed a hold on Ellison for theft of a dirt bike. According to Oconee County Investigator Dave Stauffacher, Athens-Clarke County investigators issued a search warrant on Ellison's cell phone and found …

Cases of Ammo Stolen From Oconee Carport

Together, about 600 rounds are missing. Other recent incidents include the nabbing of a purse, the breaking of a window, and a wall paper shoplifting attempt.

Theft of ammo: Two cases of ammunition were reportedly missing on Jan. 9 from an open carport on Bouldercrest Circle.  The theft occurred sometime during the past month.  The case of 4570 ammo contained about 300 rounds and is valued at $400.  The case of 3040 ammo also contained about 300 rounds and is valued at $400. Criminal Trespass: Sometime between 12 p.m. on Dec. 31 and 10:20 a.m. on Jan. 7, someone broke a window on the door leading from the garage to a house in the 1200 block of Woodlands Road.  The house is vacant and it didn't appear anyone had been inside. Oconee Parent Offers $2,000 Reward for Return of Son's Stolen Dirt Bike

A half-page ad in this week's Oconee Leader states the reward is also "for the conviction of the lazy, sorry, selfish, lowlife, inconsiderate poor soul or souls who took his bike."

An Oconee County parent has taken the unusual step of placing an ad in a local newspaper offering a $2,000 reward for the return of his son's stolen dirt bike. According to an Oconee County Sheriff's Office incident report, the dirt bike was taken from outside of a residence in the 2000 block of Malcom Bridge Road sometime between 1 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Jan. 5. The bike's 11-year-old owner had been visiting a friend, and no one heard or saw anything suspicious during the night, the report noted. The bike has unique markings, including a decal bearing this Bible verse in block letters: "MATTHEW 19:26- WITH GOD ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE." Third Theft in Three Months Reported at Bimmers South Automotive

Another catalytic converter was stolen on Jan. 2, 2013.

A new year, a similar theft. On Jan. 2, someone cut and removed a catalytic converter from a 2001 BMW located at Bimmers South Automotive on Ashley Avenue in Bogart, according to an Oconee County Sheriff's Office incident report. The theft reportedly occurred sometime between 4:30 a.m. and 6:30 a.m.  Damage was also done to the vehicle's frame. Additionally, several motor vehicle crates that had been inside a bin near the vehicle were taken. The converter is valued at $700 and the crates together cost around $150. At the end of November, a catalytic converter, fifteen radiators/condensers and twelve aluminum intake manifolds were taken from the property. Another catalytic converter was removed from a BMW in late October.

Employee Suspected in Theft from Convenience Store, Auto Entered, and Alleged Shoplifter Charged

Summaries of recent thefts reported to the Oconee County, Ga. Sheriff's Office.

Theft investigation - A representative of Racetrac on Monroe Highway recently reported to deputies that an employee is suspected of taking money from three locations.  The full amount missing wasn't known at the time of the report, but it is estimated at more than $1,500. The case is under investigation. Auto entered - Sometime between 6 p.m. on Dec. 22 and 1 p.m. on Dec. 24, someone entered a vehicle parked at an address in the 1300 block of Old Bishop Road and removed a Ralph Lauren makeup bag, an iPod touch, clothes and groceries.  Two laptops belonging to another victim were also missing. Items missing from residence - A woman on Dec. 27 reported the theft of several items from her residence in the 5400 block of Colham Ferry Road.  She…
