Georgia Senator Saxby Chambliss Won't Seek Re-Election in 2014

He says his decision to leave office is "about frustration."

  Georgia's Senior Senator, Republican Saxby Chambliss, announced Friday that he won't be seeking a third term in 2014. According to a statement on the Senator's Website: Today, U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga., released the following statement: “After much contemplation and reflection, I have decided not to run for re-election to the Senate in 2014. ‘This is a decision Julianne and I have thought through and prayed about for many weeks. Oconee Schools' Assistant Superintendent of Financial Operations Leaving

Randy Morrison's resignation was accepted by the Board of Education this week.

Update: In an article appearing in the Dec. 13 edition of The Oconee Enterprise, Randy Morrison said his resignation was the result of a personal decision to move to Tifton where his bride resides. The Oconee County Board of Education Monday accepted the resignation of Randy Morrison, assistant superintendent for financial operations. Following a work session, the Board met in an executive session to discuss personnel.  Afterward, board members voted in an open meeting to approve a list of personnel recommendations, according to the minutes. Morrison's resignation appears on that list.  It indicates his final day will be June 30, 2013. Morrison is out of town this week and should be available for an interview next week, Assistant …

UGA's Michael Adams: Yes, I'm Leaving

The University of Georgia president says he's stepping down next year.

For a few seconds, it looked as though Michael Adams wasn't going to make it through a speech about his leaving the President's Office at the University of Georgia. He had said that when he accepted the job in June 1997, with him were his parents, both of whom have since died, and his wife Mary. His face collapsed a little, but he recovered. Many of those in the audience may not recover. The university community remains in shock over Adams' sudden announcement that he will step down from his job at the end of June 2013. Only a few of the inner staff and upper level administrators learned late Wednesday that he would be leaving. Jones Resigns Superior Court Post

Judge Steve Jones leaves the Western Judicial Circuit in anticipation of taking the reigns as a federal judge in Georgia's U.S. Northern District.

In front of a crowd of supporters, Steve Jones officially tendered his resignation as Superior Court Judge in the Tenth District Western Judicial Circuit at 5 p.m. at Oconee County Courthouse on Wednesday. The U.S. Senate confirmed Jones' appointment as a U.S. District Judge for the Northern District of Georgia's Atlanta Division on Feb. 28. Several Oconee County commissioners, Oconee County Sheriff Scott Berry and Clarke County Sheriff Ira Edwards Jr., were among other law enforcement officers, court officials and citizens that were there to wish Jones good luck.
