The project will be on display in the lobby of the high school from 5-7 p.m.

School officials will be on hand at Oconee County High School this evening to discuss with parents and students plans for the first phase of renovations to Warrior Stadium. Construction is scheduled to take place later this month on facilities that will house the new concession stands and restrooms for both the home side and vistors side of the field. Parrish Construction Group was selected earlier this spring to serve as the construction manager at risk for the $900,000 project, which will be completed by the end of summer. Renovations to Oconee County High Warrior Stadium to Begin This Summer

A construction manager has been selected for Phase 1, which includes upgrades to restrooms and concession stands.

Renovated restrooms and concession stands will greet Oconee County High School football fans when they gather at the stadium this fall to cheer on the Warriors. At a called meeting this week, the Oconee County Board of Education approved Parrish Construction Group as the firm that will serve as the construction manager at risk for the summertime project. Parrish's bid was chosen from a pool of seven that were graded by a group of school officials and a construction owner representative taking into account five qualifications: firm qualifications and capability, firm experience and past performances, project personnel qualifications, project schedule, and fee.  It'll be the first time the Perry-based construction group will do work for …

State Funds Requested to Help Pay for Oconee County High Renovations

Oconee County Schools could receive around $900,000 in state funding to go toward the estimated $8 million project, which is scheduled to begin in 2014.

Renovations to Oconee County High School may be partially funded by the state. At a meeting Monday, the Oconee County Board of Education agreed to submit a fiscal year capital outlay application to potentially receive $918,778 toward the project. In order to qualify for the funding, the school system must contribute at least $220,000 and can't begin construction until 2014.  Since the project is estimated to cost $8 million, Assistant Superintendent for Operations and Student Services Mark Channell said meeting that benchmark wouldn't be a problem.  The bulk of the project will be funded through the education local-option sales tax (E-LOST). Though the bidding process could begin in 2013, state funds, if approved by the Georgia Geneneral …

Video: School Officials, Construction Manager Break Ground at Colham Ferry Elementary

Phase One renovations will begin in May.

Kindergartners and fifth-graders donned hardhats and eagerly dug into the ground with golden shovels near the entrance of Colham Ferry Elementary last Friday during a ceremony symbolizing the start of construction work at the school. The children were surrounded by Oconee County Schools officials, Chamber of Commerce members, and representatives from Bowen and Watson Inc., the company recently selected to serve as construction manager-at-risk for the renovation projects that will take place over the next two summers. "We're very excited about it -- the paint on the wall and ceilings, the carpets-- all something that we need and are excited about it," Principal Keith Carter said. He motioned to the children. " This is why we're here, this …

Bowen and Watson Will Serve as Construction Manager for Colham Ferry Elementary Upgrades

The company's plan for local participation was a factor in the decision.

Bowen and Watson, Inc. was awarded a contract this week to serve as the construction manager for the Colham Ferry Elementary School upgrades that are planned over the course of the next two summers. At a meeting Monday, Mark Channell, assistant superintendent for operations and student services, summarized for the Board of Education the bidding process that took place over the last month. Eight construction managers expressed interest, five bids were submitted, and four of the bids were qualified in the final process, he explained. Following the construction manager-at-risk method, a committee comprised of Channell, Superintendent John Jackson, Assistant Superintendent of Financial Operations Randy Morrison, and Malcom Bryan, a …
