Actor Kirk Cameron Bringing 'Love Worth Fighting For' Message to Watkinsville

Tickets are going fast for Saturday's marriage conference at Prince Avenue Baptist Church.

"Love Worth Fighting For," a Christian-based conference Feed Your Faith Ministries says is "designed to strengthen and encourage your marriage," is coming to Oconee County this weekend. Saturday's event at Prince Avenue Baptist Church will be led by actor Kirk Cameron, star of "Fireproof" and the "Left Behind" series, and will feature musician Warren Barfield. Are you planning to attend "Love Worth Fighting For"? In 2013, there are plans for the conference to make 30 stops in 30 cities across the Southeast. The event at PACS is one of only two tour stops in Georgia this month.  The other takes place on Sunday in the Carrollton High School Auditorium in Carrollton. Local Church History Discovered in Time Capsule Hidden Since 1920

The capsule contained a list of what is believed to be the charter members of the church.

Members of Prince Avenue Baptist Church were amazed when Pastor Bill Ricketts opened a time capsule that had been hidden since 1920 on Sunday, Sept. 9. The capsule appeared to have been buried by former church members and was found to contain various unique papers and documents. Jerry Haas, Prince Avenue Baptist Associate Pastor, discovered the possibility of the capsule while researching the history of the church in preparation of the 100th anniversary celebration of the church which is scheduled in October. Church officials proceeded to contact Piedmont College, which owns the property where the church was originally located, and asked for permission to search for the capsule. The box was found on Aug. 14 in a hole drilled from inside …
