Patrolman Herbert Daniel Johnson "was doing what he loved for the town that he loved" when his watch ended on Dec. 7, 1977.

Thirty-five years ago, Bogart Patrolman Herbert Daniel Johnson said good-bye to his family and headed out to assist a tow truck with the removal of an abandoned car.  He was struck by a vehicle and never came home. The Bogart community Sunday ensured Johnson would never be forgotten with the dedication of a monument in his honor, located across from City Hall. Additionally, a portrait of Johnson hangs inside City Hall and his story will also be included in a section of a museum currently under construction by the Bogart Historical Society.
