The agreement settles a water and sewer and billing dispute and means services will stay on for residents of the park.
Georgia General Kipling Land has agreed to pay the county more than $90,000 to settle a billing dispute that threatened to shut off water and sewer to more than 100 lots at Pinewood Estates South mobile home park. The resolution was announced Wednesday but the county withheld details until Georgia General returned a signed copy of the document. The county filed a lawsuit in April against the park's property owner for about $150,000 of bills and fees officials say haven't been paid. Georgia General disputed the charges and countersued, believing they'd been overcharged by more than $45,000. The Utility Department notified residents of the park in November that service will be shut off to the park in January if no resolution were reached …

The Oconee County Board of Commissioners votes to approve a settlement agreement with the landowner of Pinewood Estates South mobile home park that should keep the water flowing.
It's the news residents of Pinewood Estates South mobile home park have been hoping for since learning their water and sewer service might be shut off in January. The Oconee County Board of Commissioners met briefly in a special called meeting Wednesday to discuss a possible agreement with Pinewood's landowner, Georgia General Kipling Land, LLC. The county filed a lawsuit in April against the park's property owner for about $150,000 of bills and fees officials say haven't been paid. Georgia General disputes the charges and has countersued and believes they've been overcharged by more than $45,000. Meantime, the residents say they continue to pay their landlord monthly for water and sewer. The Utility Department notified residents of the …

The demonstration comes on the eve of a called meeting where Oconee County Commissioners are expected to discuss the situation.
Candles lit up the old entrance to the Pinewood South Estates mobile park on Epps Bridge Parkway Tuesday night where around 130 residents and supporters stood in protest of a possible water and sewer shutoff. Oconee County filed a lawsuit in April against the park's property owner, Georgia General Kipling Land, for about $150,000 of bills and fees officials say haven't been paid. Georgia General disputes the charges and has countersued. The residents say they continue to pay their landlord monthly for water and sewer. The Utility Department notified residents of the park in November that service will be shut off to the park on Jan. 13 if no agreement is reached. The county proposed the landlord deposit monies into an escrow or account or…
Oconee County and Georgia General Kipling Land, LLC may reach an agreement on an outstanding water and sewer balance for the Pinewoods Estates South Mobile Home park property by the end of this week, according to officials.
Oconee County officials and the owner of a mobile home park are on the verge of an agreement that could spare hundreds of residents caught in the middle of a billing dispute from having to go without water in January. Oconee County Administrative Officer Alan Theriault told residents of the Pinewood Estates South mobile home park at a meeting Monday he was “cautiously optimistic” that Oconee County and the landowner, Georgia General Kipling Land, would reach an agreement on a water and sewer billing dispute by the end of this week or early next week. “I am extremely optimistic - but cautious - that we can have this situation resolved by the end of this week,” Theriault said. “We are in constant communications with Georgia General Kipling …

Residents of Pinewood Estates South mobile home park find their options are limited in a billing dispute between Oconee County and their landlord.
More than 100 residents from the Pinewood Estates South mobile home park voiced frustration Monday evening at a special meeting called to address concerns about a pending water and sewer shutoff that may force them out of their homes in January. “I think we are all very frustrated,” resident Shelly Blevins said. “When the water is shut off it will provide an uninhabitable location for us to live. We won't be able to bathe our children or brush our teeth - all those kinds of things.” The Oconee County Utility Department has planned to shut off water to the park on Jan. 13 if the mobile home park's landlord, Georgia General Kipling, doesn't settle over $150,000 in unpaid bills. The county filed suit in April and Georgia General Kipling has …

"We're all a little stunned that this happened," one resident says.
Residents of Pinewood Estates South mobile home park say they were caught off guard when they learned they might be forced to leave their homes in the middle of winter if water and sewer service is shut off. The Oconee County Utility Department notified residents last week that service will be shut off to the park on Jan. 13 if the landlord doesn't settle over $150,000 of unpaid bills. The county filed suit in April and the property owner, Georgia General Kipling Land, disputes the charges and has countersued. "We're all a little stunned that this happened," said Shelly Blevins, who has lived at the park for four years. Blevins was one of about a half dozen residents who attended a hearing where the county met with the landlord to consider…
