Record-Breaking Marrow-Thon Yields Matches For Kajal Patel
The Athens Academy sixth grader must continue to recover before she can undergo the life-saving procedure.
Volunteers worked tirelessly organizing last week's 24-hour Marrow-thon in search of a match for Kajal Patel, an 12-year-old Athens Academy student who had a 1 in 20,000 chance of finding a bone marrow donor. She has suffered nearly all her life with an immune disorder. Awesome! My grandfather received a bone marrow transplant in October. My uncle was the donor and was only a half-match but the transplant was successful and he is now in remission! :)   more ›
