Regents Confirm Jere Morehead as New UGA President

Morehead will officially replace University of Georgia President Michael Adams on July 1, according to a news release.

University of Georgia Provost Jere Morehead was formally named UGA's next president on Monday, according to a news release from the university system's Board of Regents. Morehead was announced as the sole finalist for the job last week. Morehead, who will replace UGA President Michael Adams, will take over on July 1, according to the release. “Jere has devoted the bulk of his career to the University of Georgia and he has a great passion for the University and its service to students and the State of Georgia,” Board of Regents Chair “Dink” NeSmith says in the release. “He knows the University and it became clear to all involved in the search that he is the right person to take UGA forward. UGA Provost Jere Morehead Named Sole Finalist for UGA Presidency

The Board of Regents will take final action on the selection at a future meeting.

From a press release put out by the Board of Regents: Board of Regents Chair “Dink” Nesmith and University System of Georgia Chancellor Hank Huckaby have announced the name of the finalist for the University of Georgia presidency, Jere Morehead. Morehead is currently the senior vice president for Academic Affairs and provost at UGA.
