Regents Approve Name for New Institution Created By GSU and NGCSU Merger
The new institution's mission statement has also been approved.
University of North Georgia has been selected by the University System of Georgia Board of Regents as the name for the new institution created by the merger of Gainesville State College and North Georgia College and State University. The name changes were the result of work on the four campuses to solicit suggestions and feedback from faculty, staff, students, alumni and the local community. The campus implementation teams then analyzed and tabulated the feedback to determine the recommended names that should be submitted to the regents for approval, according to Shelley Nickel, associate vice chancellor for Planning and Implementation. Actually, my son graduated high school with a 3.86 and is attending Gainesville so he can continue running his own busness near by. I would put him up against any student from NGCSU...any day! They will benefit greatly by having him as a part of the new collaborative educational community.   more ›
