Man Indicted on Five Counts of Distributing Obscene Materials to Oconee Teen

A 20-year-old Lizella man who was arrested in July on charges of electronically distributing obscene materials to an Oconee County teen has been indicted by a grand jury. According to the 5-count indictment filed Tuesday with the Clerk of Superior Court, Martin Coty Johnson, is accused of using a cell phone to send images of male genitalia and acts of masturbation to the victim.  The indictment alleges the images were sent on May 29 and June 30 of 2012 "with the intent to arouse the sexual desires" of the teen. Authorities with the Oconee County Sheriff's Office said Johnson met the 14-year-old victim through an Internet chat room. Indictment Returned in Case Involving Printing of Child Porn at Oconee Library

Budge Earl Williams has been indicted on two counts of criminal attempt to commit the crime of sexual exploitation of a child.

An Oconee County grand jury has handed down an indictment against Budge Earl Williams, 70, of Fowler Mill Road, on two counts of criminal attempt to commit the crime of sexual exploitation of a child. The indictment was filed with the Clerk of Superior Court on Aug. 21. The indictment alleges Williams, while using a computer at the Oconee County Library on Aug. 1, printed two images from the internet "that depicted a minor child under the age of 18 years engaged in sexually explicit conduct." According to previous reports, library patrons saw the images on the computer screen and complained to employees who notified police.  Williams has been in the Oconee County Jail since his Aug. 6 arrest by Watkinsville police.  Authorities have said …

Seven-Count Indictment Returned for Man Accused of Threatening to Kill Family Members

James Erik Hester faces formal charges in connection with the alleged incident August 21, 2011 on Watson Springs Road.

An Oconee County grand jury has handed down a 10-count indictment against a local man accused of assaulting his brother-in-law with a knife, threatening to kill him and three other family members last summer. James Erik Hester, 33, has been indicted on the charges of aggravated assault, four counts of terroristic threats and acts, and two counts of battery.   The alleged incident took place in the evening of August 21, 2011 at a home in the 1100 block of Watson Springs Road. Hester was hospitalized for treatment of a single, non-life threatening gunshot to the abdomen, after authorities said he was shot by his brother-in-law as an act of self-defense. Man Indicted on 10 Counts in Attack on Elderly Oconee Woman

Jacob Potter Wagner has been formally charged with criminal attempt to commit murder. Criminal indictments are not evidence of guilt; they are only charges. Defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

For allegedly bludgeoning a 73-year-old Bishop woman while she slept in her bed "with intent to commit the crime of Murder," 22-year-old handyman Jacob Potter Wagner faces formal charged. An Oconee County grand jury handed down a ten-count indictment against the Rays Church Road resident that also includes two counts of aggravated battery, two counts of aggravated assault, three counts of burglary and one count theft by taking. The indictment was filed with the Oconee County Clerk of Superior Court on May 30. The indictment alleges Wagner "did strike Judith Gilvey, a person over the age of 65, repeatedly about the head and face with his fists and hands and with a certain object, which object is not presently known to the Grand Jury." 7-Count Indictment for Man Accused of Assaulting GSP Trooper

For allegedly biting a Georgia State Patrol trooper and hitting the officer with a flashlight during a traffic stop, an Oconee County man faces formal charges. According to a 7-count indictment returned by an Oconee County grand jury this week, David Earl Lucas, 40, of Dash Road, is accused of driving a motorcycle under the influence of alcohol on June 6, 2011.  When confronted in the parking lot of A J's Convenience Store on Monroe Highway, Lucas bit the trooper on the arm, causing bite marks and scarring, and hit the officer with a flashlight, the indictment alleges.
