More Oconee Students Exceeding Standards on Georgia High School Writing Test
Over 97 percent of Oconee County Schools students passed the recent exam, and the gap between those who meet the standards and those who exceed them is narrowing.
Students of Oconee County Schools have once again shined on the Georgia High School Writing Test. Dr. Claire Miller, assistant superintendent for teaching and learning, told the School Board Monday that the system achieved a 97.4 percent pass rate. That compares to a 95 percent state pass rate. Oconee County High School's pass rate of 97.7 percent was slightly higher than that of North Oconee High School, which was 97 percent. School system comparisons have not yet been released, Miller said. Most notably, according to Miller, is that the number of Oconee County Schools students who exceeded the writing test standards has increased. "We are thrilled with these results," she said.
