There's no doubt 'Fifty Shades of Grey' is generating some heat in literary circles. In some cases, it's even considered too hot. So what do you think - hot, or too hot to handle?
There's little doubt the hottest property in some local libraries at the moment is E.L. James eBook-turned-No. 1 bestseller "Fifty Shades of Grey." But not everyone thinks a library is the right place for such literature. The book has generated plenty of heat in one way or another since hitting the top spot of the New York Times Bestseller list. The first in a trilogy, "Fifty Shades of Grey" is reported to tell the story of an inexperienced college student who falls in love with a tortured man with some offbeat sexual tastes. With it being labeled by some as "mainstream erotica" and others as "mommy porn," the Gwinnett County Public Library system has elected not to carry the book. It is not for the library administrators to decide what the public should or should not read .in an open society the public decides by purchasing books that are on the market. Since there are a lot of sales and demand for this book the public has indicated it is worth reading whether or not it is porn does not matter.   more ›
