Oconee County Sheriff's Office Crime Report

Cars Entered on Grayson Lane and Bent Creek Road

The vehicles had been left unlocked overnight Wednesday to Thursday.

Oconee County Sheriff's deputies Thursday were called to investigate a pair of entered auto reports. A CD player was pulled from the dash of a vehicle parked in the 1100 block of Grayson Lane sometime between 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday and 8:41 a.m. on Thursday. The car was unlocked. A half a mile away, the owner of a white Honda Civic that had been parked in the 1100 block of Bent Creek Road also reported someone searched his car sometime between 6:30 p.m. on March 13 and 7:30 a.m. on March 14.  He told deputies he thinks the car was unlocked.  Nothing appeared to be missing.

During the same time frame, vehicles were also entered in the 1400 block of Regency Walk -- an iPhone and change were taken -- and in the 1000 block of Regency Walk -- a wallet and tools were stolen. A Tahoe parked at a 1300 block Regency Walk address was entered, but nothing was missing.   more ›

Oconee Deputies Investigate Numerous Reports of Entered Autos

Most of the vehicles were left unlocked, according to the Athens Banner-Herald.

Oconee County Sheriff's investigators and patrol deputies are working together to solve multiple cases of entered autos this week. Residents of Hunter Trail, Jessica Way, Osceola Avenue, Millstone Run and McNutt Crossing filed reports, according to an article in the Athens Banner-Herald, and most of the vehicles involved were left unlocked. Sheriff Scott Berry told the newspaper that the thefts are happening at night and reminded citizens to protect themselves by locking their cars.

Oconee Sheriff's Office Crime Report

Several Autos Entered in Keeneland Subdivision in Oconee County

Various electronics, cash, and sunglasses were reportedly taken from vehicles overnight Thursday to Friday, Jan. 24-25, 2013.

Oconee County Sheriff's deputies are investigating several reports of entered autos in the Keeneland subdivision off of US 78 that occurred last Thursday night or early Friday morning. One man reported three vehicles, which had been parked in a driveway in the 1000 block of Derby Lane, were entered between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m. on Jan. 25. About $1,000 worth of items were taken, including two DVD systems, two pairs of Rayban sunglasses and an iPod nano, according to an incident report. Another resident of the 1000 block of Derby Lane reported two cars on his porperty were entered.
