Monument to be Dedicated to Fallen Bogart Policeman
The ceremony in remembrance of Patrolman Herbert Daniel Johnson will take place on Sunday at 3 p.m. at Bogart First Baptist Church.
The Bogart community will come together on Sunday, Dec. 9 to honor the memory of Patrolman Herbert Daniel Johnson with the dedication of a monument marking the 35th anniversary of his death. While directing traffic around an abandoned car on December 7, 1977, Johnson was struck and killed by a vehicle, according to The Oconee Enterprise. Janet Luke, a member of the monument committee, said the Blue Knights Georgia 7 moving memorial wall and the Honor Guard from the Athens Clarke County Police Department will participate.
