A gray 2002 Ford F-150 pickup was reported stolen from a property in the 1300 block of Jerusalem Road over the weekend. According to an Oconee County Sheriff's report, the truck's owner had parked the vehicle behind a barn on Friday while he was chopping wood in a pasture. He told deputies the truck was left unlocked with the kids in the ignition around 5 p.m. and when the he returned on Saturday at 9 a.m., it had been taken. Aside from a bent radio antenna, the man said the truck was in "like new condition" and estimated its value at $20,000. The truck's information was entered into the National Crime Information Center and Georgia Crime Information Center.

A hungry thief sneaked into a garage area on Old Bishop Road last week and removed two small food containers from a freezer, a resident of the home told an Oconee County Sheriff's deputy. The burglary happened sometime between 8:15 a.m. and 5:48 p.m. on Feb. 25, according to an incident report. The woman said about $14 worth of chicken mull was missing. The deputy noted that the garage/carport is attached to the residence but there are no doors; therefore, it cannot be secured.

Oconee County Sheriff's investigators are working on several cases of entered autos reported last week. Two Hyundai Sonatas parked in a driveway at a 1100 block Trailwood Drive residence were entered sometime between 6 p.m. on Feb. 19 and 7 a.m. on Feb. 20. A radar/laser detector, two GSP devices and $40 cash were taken. On Feb. 20, a deputy met with a resident of 1100 block of Hillcrest Drive who reported his vehicle had been entered sometime between 10 p.m. on Feb. 19 and 2 p.m. on Feb. 20. A wallet and a cell phone charger were taken. While on the scene, the deputy took a second report of an entered auto at the same address. An Xbox 360 console and a radio amplifier were taken from the other vehicle.

For allegedly fleeing from a traffic stop for the second time in two weeks, a 34-year-old man is again behind bars at Oconee County Jail. A patrol deputy near Mars Hill Road spotted a dark blue GMC Sierra 1500 pickup truck around 3:20 p.m. Thursday headed east on Ga. 316. The pikcup was being driven by a man known to have a suspended license, according to a sheriff's report. The deputy pulled onto the highway, at which point the driver of the pickup "accelerated aggressively" and passed traffic in the left-hand lane, the deputy wrote. With the patrol lights and sirens on, the deputy followed the pickup as it "cut aggressively into the turning lane then left on to Julian Drive." Oconee County Sheriff's investigators have made an arrest in the case of a tip jar that was snatched last week from Starbucks' drive-thru window. A manager of the store on Epps Bridge Parkway reported two men in a red Jeep Liberty were seen around 11:30 a.m. on Feb. 11 when the incident occurred. Authorities estimate $20-50 was taken. George Labron Houser, 20, of Club Drive in Athens, was charged on Wednesday with robbery. Detective Chris Cannon says the incident is classified as a robbery because the money was taken in the "immediate presence" of an employee of the coffee shop by "sudden snatching," as outlined in O.C.G.A. § 16-8-40. An Oconee County woman arrived home Saturday evening to find busted glass on a side door entrance to the residence in the 2900 block of Old Farmington Road. A burglar had forcibly entered the home sometime between noon and 9 p.m. and removed two televisions, a Nintendo Wii and a Sony Playstation. Jewelry was also taken, according to a Sheriff's Office report. The case is under investigation. Also on Sunday, a resident of the 1000 block of Rankin Road reported the theft of her cell phone. The woman told a deputy she left for about 10 minutes around 4 p.m. and locked her home. When she returned, she says a Samsung Galaxy phone that had been in the kitchen area was missing. Leaving a tip isn't mandatory, but stealing one is downright criminal. According to an Oconee County Sheriff's report, that's what happened Monday at the Starbucks on Epps Bridge Parkway. The coffee shop manager reported that two men in a red Jeep Liberty swiped the tip jar from the drive-thru window ledge shortly after 11:30 a.m. The thieves made off with an undetermined amount of cash.

Oconee County Sheriff's investigators and patrol deputies are working together to solve multiple cases of entered autos this week. Residents of Hunter Trail, Jessica Way, Osceola Avenue, Millstone Run and McNutt Crossing filed reports, according to an article in the Athens Banner-Herald, and most of the vehicles involved were left unlocked. Sheriff Scott Berry told the newspaper that the thefts are happening at night and reminded citizens to protect themselves by locking their cars.

An Oconee County woman on Monday reported a burglary had occurred at her home in the 4900 block of Monroe Highway. She told deputies that sometime between noon and 7:30 p.m. someone entered her home without her permission. Several clothing items belonging to the woman's daughter were taken, according to an incident report. The stolen items are valued at $600.

An employee of Autozone was arrested on Thursday following an investigation by store loss prevention personnel that took place over a three-month period, according to an Oconee County Sheriff's Office report. Jonathan Rivera, 23, of Watkinsville, is accused of stealing property and currency from the store located on Hog Mountain Road with an estimated value of $203.84, according to the report. The deputy says Rivera reportedly admitted to the theft. Jail records show bond was set at $500 and Rivera was released later that day. The missing property, which wasn't itemized in the report, was not recovered.
