This is super secret grown up stuff so you better get off your mom or dad's computer! Whew, that was a close one! Christmas is just around the corner and my three-year-old is already going nuts for Santa Claus. If we happen to be at the mall, my little one makes a mad dash to find Santa, sitting on his throne among the fake snow and cranky helpers in elf outfits, and to give the old boy a hug. He loves the jolly guy. If ever there was a time for me to play up the whole Santa Claus thing, now would be it. Christmas Trees Around Oconee: Downtown Watkinsville

It stands proudly in front of Eagle Tavern Museum.

The official Christmas tree of Watkinsville stands at 20-feet tall and was donated by Greenbriar Leaf Farm. It was lit on Dec. 3 during the last First Friday event of the year. An angel tops this artificial evergreen inside the Watkinsville Community Center.

Red, green and gold ornamental balls and pearlescent strands of beads are strung on the Christmas tree inside the Watkinsville Community Center.   It was trimmed by members of the Oconee County Pilot Club, city clerk Julie Sanders said. Two trimmed trees: Gingerbread and Give a Gift Tree.

A gingerbread man tops the red and green stocking-themed tree in the meeting room of the Oconee County Library. There's also a second tree at the library serving a unique purpose: for patrons to gift a book to the library in the name of a loved one.  Pick out an ornament from the Giving Tree and bring it to the front desk with payment. Commemorative plates will be inserted into gifted books. There is only a week left to adopt a pet from the Oconee County Animal Shelter in time for Christmas!

The adoption fee is $100 for a cat or dog, and the cost includes the spay or neuter, a 1-year Rabies vaccine, a microchip, light exam, fecal exam, deworming, the DHLPP and Bordatella vaccines for dogs and the FVRCP vaccine for cats.
