Over 50 area businesses were represented at the 2011 Oconee County Chamber of Commerce Business Expo on April 21.
The 21st Annual Oconee County Chamber of Commerce Business Expo was held on Thursday at the Oconee County Civic Center. Fifty-six area businesses were represented, Chamber Manager Zoe Gattie said. The lineup included chamber and non-chamber members from a vast range of businesses, including financial institutions, home improvement stores and remodeling companies, medical professionals, schools, non-profits and retailers. The Civic Center was bustling with visitors during the 3-hour expo. Oconee County's office of Economic Development plans to offer free workshops to small businesses starting this month.
Oconee County is gearing up to help out small businesses by hosting a series of free workshops. "What we're trying to do with the workshops is to put information into the hands of people that can really use it," said Rusty Haygood, Economic Development director for Oconee County. The one-man department is teaming up with Athens-Clarke County Human and Economic Development to host five sessions from January to May. This month, Oconee will host the first session on search engine optimization Jan. 24 at the Oconee County Civic Center at 6:30 p.m. The next session will be Feb. 28 at the Planning Auditorium at 120 W.
