Second Suspect Charged with Burglary of Watkinsville Home

Police say they found the woman inside when they went to check on the residence Wednesday. An arrest isn't a conviction.

A 26-year-old Watkinsville woman was taken into custody Wednesday after police say they found her inside of a Cedar Drive duplex when they arrived to conduct a burglary investigation. Officers checked on the residence following the arrest of a 30-year-old Colbert man during a traffic stop on New High Shoals Road that morning.  Aaron Tyler Poss had been driving a truck that didn't belong to him, Police Chief Lee O'Dillon said. According to O'Dillon, officers located the registered owner of the truck , who is currently being housed in the Madison County Jail.  The victim told police that no one should be driving his truck or in possession of his credit cards or any other property belonging to him. Oconee County Deputies Make Arrest in Burglary Case

A television and power tools reported stolen from a home on Watson Springs Road Tuesday were recovered in Madison County. An arrest isn't a conviction.

Oconee County Sheriff's investigators have charged a Watkinsville man with the Tuesday burglary of a Watson Springs Road home. Sometime between 7:35 a.m. and 5:10 p.m., a 42-inch flatscreen television was taken from the house and an air compressor, a nail gun kit and a backpack blower were removed from a storage building area.  The items are worth about $1,600. According to the incident report, there were no signs of forced entry. Investigators processed the scene and later recovered the stolen property at a location in Madison County. Around 9 p.m., Billy Joe Hanley, 33, of Moreland Drive, was booked into the Oconee County Jail on a burglary charge.  Additional details surrounding the arrest weren't released.  The investigation continues…

Watkinsville Police Charge Man with Burglary and Theft Following Traffic Stop

The suspect was found driving a stolen pickup truck after allegedly having taken the vehicle's keys from inside of a Cedar Drive residence earlier in the day, police say. An arrest isn't a conviction.

Police say a 30-year-old man entered a Watkinsville home Wednesday, took keys to a truck and some credit cards, and drove off in the vehicle. Responding to reports of a possible impaired driver, officers pulled the suspect over on New High Shoals Road near Bishop's Vineyard subdivision around 11:15 a.m., Police Chief Lee O'Dillon explained.  The man was unable to answer questions about the truck's owner, he said, and further investigation led police to a duplex on Cedar Drive where it was discovered some items had been taken from the residence. Officers charged Aaron Tyler Poss with burglary in the first degree and theft by receiving stolen property, but no traffic-related offenses and police said he wasn't impaired. "We knew he went in […

Watkinsville Police Investigate Attempted Break-in

The following information was supplied by the Watkinsville, Ga. police department.

A Harden Hill Road resident returned home from work last Wednesday, May 1, to find that someone had broken a window on the garage door. According to Watkinsville Police Chief Lee O'Dillon, the intruder may have attempted to reach inside and unlock the door but it was secured with a double cylinder dead bolt lock. The burglar didn't get inside and nothing outside seemed to be missing, he said. Watkinsville police responded to a total of 31 calls within city limits between April 29 - May 5, 2013. Several Burglaries Under Investigation in Oconee County

Firearms, jewelry and electronics were among items stolen from local homes recently.

Oconee County Sheriff's deputies are investigating several burglaries that were reported over the last week. On April 16, a resident of the 1000 block of Thornwell Court told deputies he arrived home around 3:50 p.m. to find someone had taken two rifles and a shotgun. An iPad 2, a flat-screen TV and a laptop computer were also missing. The total value of the items is estimated at $3,800. According to the incident report, it appeared that the burglar entered through an open garage door sometime between 7:15 that morning and the time the resident returned that afternoon. Also under investigation is the burglary of a Whitehead Road residence.  In that case, a diamond ring and two televisions, collectively worth about $625, were taken between …

Oconee Deputies, Athens Police on Lookout for Gold Honda Accord with Black Duct Tape on Rear Bumper

Athens-Clarke County Police say the car was spotted near the scene of a burglary on Kings Road Monday.

  Athens-Clarke County Police and Oconee County Sheriff's deputies are looking for a 1990s model gold Honda Accord that witnesses placed at the scene of a burglary on Kings Road around 7:15 p.m. on Monday, April 15. A neighbor told police he saw a man climb into the passenger's side of the car driven by another man. That witness described the occupants as black men in their 20s, but another witness thought one of the two was a woman, according to police. The car had what appeared to be black Duct tape on parts of the rear bumper, according to the Nixle alert sent around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. Guitar, Jewelry Stolen from Home on Jimmy Daniel Road

Another burglary on Adams Road is also under investigation.

A resident of Jimmy Daniel Road reported someone broke into her home in the 1700 block and took multiple items. The burglary occurred sometime between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10. Two televisions, a guitar, a game system and a quaniity of jewelry was taken.  Neither a detailed description nor an estimated value was listed in the initial report. The case is listed as active. Also under investigation is a burglary of an Adams Road residence.  On Tuesday, April 9 the resident reported that someone entered his house between midnight and 9 a.m. that day and removed items valued around $4050. A television, laptop, iPhone and power tools were among the stolen items.

Break-in Reported at Castle Drive Home

Electronics valued at $4,100 were taken from the residence in Oconee County, Ga.

A resident of the 1200 block Castle Drive returned home Thursday, April 4, to find she'd been the victim of a burglary. Someone had entered the home through a side door visible from the street, according to a Sheriff's report.  The break-in happened sometime between 7:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. that day. Three flat screen televisons were taken along with a Nintendo Wii, a Chromebook laptop and an iPad.  Investigators are working on the case.

Burglar Snatches Guns, Hunting Bow from Old Bishop Road Home

Electronics were also stolen during the break-in this past weekend.

Oconee County Sheriff's deputies are investigating the burglary of a home in the 2000 block of Old Bishop Road.  The residence was forcibly entered sometime between 6 p.m. on March 29 and 3 p.m. on April 1, according to an incident report. Deputies were told by the complainant that three shotguns, two rifles and a scope had been taken along with a hunting bow, two televisions, a digital camera and video recorder and an iPad2. The victim was reached by phone and said he would verify if other items were missing when he returned home. The total value of the items is estimated at $11,150. Don’t miss any Oconee news.
