Athens Clarke County Police teamed up with Oconee County Sheriff's deputies and Watkinsville Police to capture Ray Lee McDaniel at a Woodside Place residence Tuesday afternoon.
The man Athens Clarke-County Police believe is responsible for robbing at knifepoint a clerk at the Golden Pantry on West Broad Street Saturday night for $232 was apprehended Tuesday afternoon in Oconee County. According to a post on the Oconee County Sheriff's Office's Facebook Page, 26-year-old Ray Lee McDaniel was taken into custody at a home on Woodside Place around 2:30 p.m. Deputies and officers from Watkinsville Police Department and Athens Clarke-County Police Department reportedly worked together to make the arrest. Oconee County Sheriff's deputies arrested one man on armed robbery charges and are searching for another who may have been involved in a home invasion Sunday at a residence on Alpine Court. Around 10:40 p.m., a man carrying a pistol entered the home and tried to rob the residents, according to a news release. Three suspects were detained Tuesday night at a local convenience store and turned over to Athens-Clarke County Police.
Oconee County sheriff's deputies detained three suspects for Clarke County within an hour and a half of a Tuesday night armed robbery, said Chief Deputy Lee Weems. Glad to see this guy arrested. It's never enough however for the victim's family when the criminal has been arrested, there's always an anger that rages over that. I just hope people who shoot, kill, steal, etc. understand there's no gain when taking things that aren't yours.   more ›
