Last Chance AARP Tax Help at Oconee Library

Tax Day is just over a week away. Do you still need help with preparation of forms?

It's down to the wire. Tax Day - the deadline for individual income tax returns to be postmarked to the federal government - is Tuesday, April 17, 2012.  If you need some assistance with tax form preparation, AARP members are poised to help, but today is the final day they will be stationed at Oconee County Library from 1 -4:30 p.m., offering the free service. All adults regardless of age or AARP affiliation are welcome on a first-come, first-served basis.   Do you have other suggestions for last minute tax assistance?  Please share in the comments below.

Weather: Today’s weather will be a continuation of the warm and dry days we’ve had – but a smidgeon warmer with a high predicted at around 86! Pollen counts remain in the 1800 range which is very high. Enjoy it – tomorrow and Saturday brings higher grass pollens than we will “enjoy” today.

Mmm...strawberries! See what's happening in and around Oconee today.

1. Pleasant weather today.   High temperatures will be in the mid to upper 70s and the sun will be shining, according to forecasts. 2. Ready for some fresh, locally grown strawberries?  Washington Farms' location in Watkinsville will have berries ready for picking starting at 8 a.m.  The farm suggests calling before coming out. 3. A two-day course at the Oconee County Senior Center offers driver safety information geared toward drivers over the age of 50.  The class, April 13 and 14 from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m., is presented by the AARP. Free tax form preparation assistance and a band concert are two of the events taking place in and around Oconee today.

1. After a rainy weekend, the Weather Channel forecasts mostly sunny skies and high temperatures in the low 60s for Oconee County for today. 2. Book Babies at the Oconee County Library offers infants up to 23 months of age the chance to hear stories and nursery rhymes beginning at 10:30 a.m. 3. Need tax form assistance?  Find free help at the Oconee County Library. Every Monday from 1 p.m. until 4:30 p.m., members of the AARP will be in the auditorium of the library to help with tax form preparation.  All ages are welcome and assistance will be provided on a first come, first served basis. 4. 1. The Oconee County work week starts out with mostly cloudy skies and high temperatures in the low 70s.  Low temperatures this evening will be in the mid 50s, according to the weather channel. 2.
