The Oconee County School District (OCSD) offices are located in Watkinsville just off Main Street, in Watkinsville. The district consists of ten schools, grades pre-k through 12. There are six elementary, two middle and two high schools.
From 2002 until 2010, all 10 schools within the OCSD met Annual Yearly Progress (AYP). OCSD is the only school system in the state of Georgia to do so.
Both high schools in the OCSD made Newsweek Magazine's 2010 list of top five percent schools in the nation.
The schools not only perform well in academics but have won many region and state championships.
Oconee is ranked the second-best district out of 155 districts in the state of Georgia.
