The Oconee County Fire Department, which also acts as the Oconee County Government Annex, is the governing body for all other volunteer fire and emergency services locations in Oconee County. The fire department is also responsible for recruitment, training, fire code inspections and storing ISO (Insurance Services Organization) documents, providing safety classes for local schools and working with other government agencies during investigations.

I am proud to live in a county that has such dedicated fireman that takes care of this county out of the kindness of their hearts! This is a fire department that big cities would have to pay BIG bucks and still would not get the dedication that our volunteers bring! Bruce Thaxton and the entire fire department make me proud to live in Oconeeland!!! :)
