The Oconee County Emergency Management Agency works with its state and federal counterparts to provide assistance to the local community when disasters or emergencies arise.
Bruce Thaxton serves as EMA director and fire chief. Mark Melvin is the current deputy fire chief.
Volunteers also work through Oconee Emergency Management in the Medical First Responder Unit and Search and Rescue Unit.
