In response to the review from "Oconee Resident", if you're not willing to identify yourself, how is this a legitimate complaint? Anybody can say anything under the cloak of anonymity. Maybe this is true, maybe not; but the problem with these online reviews and critiques is that they can do real harm, and the reviewer risks nothing. I have had always had good experiences at Bell's; their meat is always top quality but not overpriced, they often carry local produce and other locally made products, and every time I visit, the staff is helpful and friendly. I shop at other stores, too, but I am happy to have an alternative in Watkinsville. It's not fair that a negative reviewer can call a manager by name yet he or she remain anonymous.

Went to Bell's in Watkinsville on 21Jan2013 to pick up some Scott "Regular" White Bath Tissue published as being "on sale" in the Oconee Enterprise. Cashier rang up regular price. I mentioned it was on sale, the cashier picked up a flyer by the register and agreed, "You're right", and called the Asst Manager, Tara Clark. Ms. Clark arrived, seeming irritated to be bothered (the store was empty at 7:30PM) and said she would "check the shelves". Ms. Clark returned with "Extra Soft" tissue and tried to swap it with my "Regular" - I told her my wife did not want "Extra Soft", and that I had made a special trip to pick up the "Regular" tissue. Ms. Clark became curt and informed me "the Regular has more square footage" and "the ad is a misprint"; I told her in that case I did not need the three 4-packs of tissue and would simply pay for the rest of my $30 order. I asked her "How does treating a customer of nearly 30 years (29 actually) this way over $3.87 help you, or Bell's?" She became irate and ordered the bag boy to "take that stuff out" and he said "Yes, maam" and wheeled the cart towards the door. Ms. Clark then ordered the bag boy to "get back over here! Take that out of there!!" to which the confused student said "What? What do you mean?" Ms. Clark said "He is NOT ALLOWED TO BUY ANY GROCERIES HERE!!!" I asked, "So you're not going to sell me the rest of my order?" She said angrily, "I'm not going to argue with you about it!" and demanded I LEAVE THE PREMISES!!!

We love to support local business but after having more negative experiences than positive at this store, we finally gave up trying. I prefer the friendly, helpful staff and managers at Publix. Sorry.
