Would You Choose to Live in A Tornado Proof Home?

What if the design is not conventional, but the home is able to save lives?

A recent story on 11 Alive News gave details of a tornado-proof home that is being designed by a company in Hong Kong. The home was designed based on the mentality of a turtle, according to the report. Instead of putting the home on stilts to avoid the encroaching water, or to allow the wind to flow underneath it, the design by this company has a home that buries itself underground in the case of advancing storms. It is built with sensors that warn of an approaching storm and activate the mechanics to cause the home to go under ground. It is based on a plan that would allow for a whole neighborhood to bury itself in the case of an advancing storm.

The company is reported to be building a prototype that it would like tested under real-life conditions in the U.S.

Do you think this idea will work? If you had the opportunity would you like to live in this type of tornado proof home?
