Should Rodriguez Be Allowed to Play During His Appeal?

The MLB player earned a 211-game suspension for his alleged involvement with performance-enhancing drugs, but he is appealing.

Rob Heinemann of Oakland Patch had a story this week on MLB player Alex Rodriguez suspension, and his appeal. According to Oakland Patch, Rodriquez’ alleged involvement with the Biogenesis Clinic in Florida and performance-enhancing drugs resulted in a 211-game suspension. There were 12 other players who accepted a 50-game suspensions Monday. These suspensions all followed an investigation by MLB on players connected to the clinic, which is accused of dispensing PEDs. Rodriguez, however, was expected to appeal his suspension. If the suspension is upheld, Rodriguez will be out of the game until after the 2014 season.

The Biogenesis clinic was known for having obtained performance enhancing drugs for its clients. Rodriquez’s suspension takes effect on Thursday, Aug. 8. However, under MLB collective bargaining rules on drug policy violations, he would be able to continue to play during the appeals process. Oakland Patch reports that, according to SI.com, Rodriguez plans to do just that.

So what do you think? Should the Yankee’s player be allowed to play during his appeal or should he take his suspension like the rest of the players?
