"Certified Wildlife Operators-Who We Are"

"I honestly do not believe that the majority of the general public understands our profession and what we actually do. We are highly skilled and work to manage the population of Predators and other Wildlife in order to maintain the delicate balance of the Ecosystem. We have been educated thru the State of Georgia in Wildlife Management and have taken and passed an extensive certification exam. By doing so, the State recognizes us as taking our occupation more seriously. We also bring with that years of experience in Woodsmanship and interacting with Wildlife. In other words, we are recognized as Professionals and Experts in this Field. I am very proud of the work that I do. I love the Challenge and keep up to date on the status of Wildlife Management here in the United States and abroad. I stay current on the political climate and am active in numerous organizations. I promote what I do to others at every available opportunity.
What the General Public needs to understand is that nothing in Nature is wasted. Unless an animal is diseased, it will be food for numerous others in the food chain. Unlike Man, who wastes millions of tons of food every day, Nature takes care of it's own. That was the way it was designed. The deer that is hit on the road will be eaten by ravens, crows, possums, coyotes, and ants. Even the bones are gnawed on by squirrels and rats for calcium. The antlers that fall from the bucks' head every year are consumed the same way. Nature, unlike Man, is very efficient. The lion that kills the buffalo on the Serengeti Plains in Africa leaves the bones for the buzzards and the hyena to consume. Predators are needed in the whole scheme of things, yet if their populations are not managed and allowed to get out of control, the Ecosystem suffers. This is where I do my part to manage the predators in a certain area, to protect the newborn and the innocent until they are able to protect themselves. We must take a certain number of predators out of the populations each year so that disease does not break out and spread. The main one being the Rabies Virus. We remove the Predators with the bad attitudes towards Livestock, pets, other wildlife and humans. We are the Watchers, the Top Predator in the Food Chain." We stand in the Gap between Predator and Prey. Perhaps, to some, we are misunderstood. Certainly there is much misinformation about us. And many people use that to negatively influence an unknowing public. It is easier for people to take what someone else says rather than search out the information for themselves. People will believe what they want to, even if it is not correct. It is my job, I believe, to help educate the general public as to the truth about who we are and what we do. To help do that I have created the page below. I encourage you to visit it and get a look at the "Truth About Wildlife Trapping and Management in the United States."
