Emergency Preparedness Festival Planned in Oconee County Saturday

The free event, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, coincides with National Preparedness Month.

Floods. Tornadoes. Epidemics. How prepared is your family in the event disasters such as these occur?

Local officials and representatives of GEMA and FEMA will educate citizens about the importance of planning ahead at the Are You Ready? Emergency Preparedness Festival on Saturday, Sept. 14, in Oconee.

The free expo will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1080 Julian Drive, Watkinsville.Β  The event will feature a variety of health and safety classes and presentations, including and emergency cooking class, Heimlich demonstration, fire safety class and more.Β  The complete schedule is available online at www.areyoureadyathens.com.
