Week Ahead: November 4-7, 2013

On Monday at 6pm, there's a free seminar on the Affordable Care Act, aka, Obamacare, at 1080 Experiment Station Road in Watkinsville. Ms. 
Cassandra Tucker, Program Coordinator – Health Navigator at the University of 
Georgia, who will explain the basics of the new healthcare act.

The Oconee County Board of Commissioners meets Tuesday, November 5, at 7pm in the Commission Chambers of the Oconee County Courthouse. To see the tentative agenda, click here.

The Oconee Mentor Program seeks volunteers to mentor Oconee County students during the 2013-2014 school year. The next training session is Thursday, November 7, at 5:30pm, at the Oconee Area Resource Council, 20 N. Main Street.

The first ever Georgia Parent Survey for the 2013-2014 school year is available, according to the school district's website. The survey will be open from October 29, 2013 - January 31, 2014. The results will be used by the Georgia Department of Education to calculate a statewide accountability rating called the School Climate Star Rating within the College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI).  Please visit the following link to participate in this important survey that will be published statewide as a component of the new accountability system.
