Caterpillar Employees from Around the Globe Beautify Oconee County Parks

The service project coincided with the 9/11 Day of Service.

Nearly 140 employees of Caterpillar from around the world spent the twelfth anniversary of 9/11 volunteering their time to beautify parks in Oconee County.

Max Martin, Global Industry Manager and Local Contractor at Caterpillar, said he brought his worldwide sales and marketing team representing 56 countries to Athens for a week-long conference.

"We've got a strong culture inside Caterpillar of getting involved in the communities where we live and work, so it was a perfect opportunity for my global team to donate their time and put their mark on the community," he said.

The group planted trees at Herman C. Michael park and added mulch to the playground there and at Oconee Veterans Park.  At lunchtime, the volunteers headed to the Oconee County Senior Center where the company treated the seniors to lunch provided by Hot Thomas BBQ.
