Library Launches Summer Reading Program with Family Fun Day

Kids lined up for pony rides, bouncy houses, a petting zoo, a magic show and more on Sunday afternoon at the Oconee County Library.

"Dream Big - READ"

That's the theme of the  2012 Summer Reading program, which is designed to encourage children to maintain skills by reading during the break from formal classes.

Family Fun Day, held on May 20, was an opportunity for families to play together and for kids 11 and under to pick up their reading logs.

Participants are asked to keep track of all the books they read between now and the program's conclusion on August 7. Upon completion of pages in the log, readers will be rewarded with prizes.

Kids may pick up their summer reading folders and bookmarks at the library or register online.

In addition to the reading logs, there are also many activities planned throughout the summer months like Drop-In Crafts, a Bike Safety Rodeo, and Flamenco Fun.  Read more about these and other events on the library's website.
