Wolverines to Battle War Eagles in Semifinals

Prince Avenue Christian School hosts Landmark Christian at 7:30 p.m. Friday

The Prince Avenue Christian School Wolverines will face the Landmark Christian Academy War Eagles (Fairburn) in Class A playoff action tonight.

The Wolverines pulled off an upset last week when they handed local rivals the Athens Academy Spartans their only loss of the year. Prince Avenue held the Spartans to a single touchdown in the 24-7 victory.

Landmark knocked off First Presbyterian Day School (Macon) 38-24 to advance to the semifinals.

The George Walton Academy Bulldogs square off against top-seeded Eagles Landing Christian Academy (Stockbridge) tonight in Class A semifinal action. Last week, the Bulldogs held The Walker School Wolverines to a touchdown to advance by a score of 37-7. Eagles Landing defeated Savannah Christian Academy by the lopsided score of 42-7.

In other high school football news, the Monroe Area Purple Hurricanes head to Tyrone tonight to square off against the Sandy Creek Patriots in the Class-AAAA semifinals. The 'Canes blasted through their Quarter-final opponents, the South Effingham Mustangs, in a 47-8 rout. Sandy Creek is one of only a handful of teams in the state that remains undefeated thus far. Last week they defeated Burke County 31-20.

The winner of tonight's game will face the winner of the Ridgeland vs Marist game in the AAAA state championship next week.
