Titans Play Hard, Fall to Spartans

North Oconee ends a great season with a 2-0 loss to Greater Atlanta Christian during the boys state soccer semifinals on Wednesday.

The boys soccer team took on Greater Atlanta Christian in the Class AA state semifinals on Wednesday, ending their season with a 2-0 loss to the Spartans.

Both teams played hard the first half to the point where the game remained scoreless. The Titans and their goalie, Jon Skinner, kept GAC at bay as they repeatedly blocked shot after shot on goal.

The game remained 0-0 for the first 60 minutes until GAC's Paul Ille put the ball past Skinner which opened up the lead for the Spartans who benefitted from a red card seven minutes earlier against North Oconee’s best defender, Cody Clark. Clark tripped Paul Ille at the corner of the box, and was given the Titans’ first straight red card of the season.  The Spartans’ second goal by Stewart Abrahart came with a little under ten minutes left in the game.
